Remarkable,
Only the Swiss could come up with this technology. I have difficulty squeezing a bag while trying to write or decorate, so this is a fantastic solution. Not only does it do a great job, but it is also fun to use, especially with the versatility of multiple tubes that provide for different colors of frosting. I do advise that the decorating frosting be somewhat thicker than the frosting for the cake. Sincerely recommend this appliance.

|Has its’ flaws,
First thing you need to do is buy a tub a frosting for learning how to use the thing and for filling the tubes. I suppose you can fill the cartriges by hand but if you use all of the parts that come with the tool, you will need one of those frosting containers. Yes you can use your own frosting but it must be put in one of those frosting cans first. Kuhn Rikon should have included one. There is a disk that fits perfectly inside the can where you insert a cartridge that you push down into the frosting allowing it to fill. There is a little semi-circular area at the top of the cartridge where you can push on. It took me a while to find it. So you fill the cartridge and then screw on the tip, only it doesn’t screw on, it sort of locks in place. It also comes undone easily so you can have a mess of frosting before you know it. So now you have it all assembled and you press the on button and nothing comes out. The frosting MUST be pushed down into the tip with the plunger or the tool won’t work. So now the tip is primed and you turn it back on and it doesn’t work. Well, it will, it just takes a few more seconds for the frosting to be extruded. This is not a tool for a pro, but once you learn how to use it, is fine for the average or beginning cook. I don’t like using frosting bags because I have some arthritis in my hands so I bought this tool. Is it worth it? Can’t tell yet but you MUST PRACTICE USING IT FOR THE FIRST TIME to learn how it works before trying it on a cake or cookies.

|Just ok,
Was really excited to get this product, but not so excited after the first time I used it. It was alright, but it just doesn’t compare to using a pastry bag with metal tip. I liked the action of the pen and being able to switch out cartridges easily, but I found the decorating itself came out a little sloppy. I ended up holding one of my metal tips over the plastic one that came with the pen– that helped a little bit with the results.
